Saturated ruby. Roasted blackberry and blueberry syrup on the nose. Sweet, brooding and powerful; in a dense and chunky style but not at all clumsy or heavy, thanks to sound acidity. The dark fruit flavors are nicely accented by pepper and spice. Finishes sweet, juicy and peppery, with building tannins that come across as a bit harder than those of the '03. Still a bit unformed, and in need of a few years of bottle aging.
